There is a Way That Seems Right!
Every generation has its own cultural dilemmas. In general, the questions revolve around moral values. In a perfect world, good prevails. Not so in the world we live in. The moral corruption of a society is the final phase of a lost civilization. All the great empires of the past have failed from within because of moral breakdown. It is a gradual process that begins slowly until immorality becomes acceptable to the majority and then right and wrong becomes clouded and the majority rules. What was once considered wrong, now seems right. God writes the moral law and with loving kindness enforces it. Immorality is contagious it appeals to the fallen nature of man and is hard to resist. “People wanted only to do evil. So God left them and let them go their sinful way. And so they became completely immoral and used their bodies in shameful ways with each other. They traded the truth of God for a lie.”(Ro.1:24,25) God is long-suffering and will honor repentance. “If my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (Chr. 7:14) God is quick to forgive a repentant nation if they turn back to the moral law, but there comes a time when he knows there is no hope of repentance. “People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking. And so they do what they should not do”(Ro.1:28)
The USA has been a Christian stronghold since its inception and God has been faithful to honor the effort, making America the greatest nation in history. Sadly, we are well into our predictable decline. We have accepted immorality as routine. The family has been fractured, the word of God no longer reigns. The motto of the day is “if it feels good, do it.” We have become a nation of followers, not leaders. Young people are growing up watching soft pornography in prime-time. They exchange nude pictures of each other on their cell phones with no sense of shame. Abortion has become a convenient contraceptive. Parents refuse to take a stand for fear their children will turn against them. The decline is imminent! The mindset of the modern generation is if everyone does it then it must be all right. Immorality separates men from God, the two are not compatible. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”(Prov. 14:12)
Will you be the one in your family that takes a stand against immorality? Decadence is powerful enough to destroy a nation but can’t dent a faithful believer.
