Clergy Abuse
In recent years the Catholic Church has been rocked with allegations of sexual abuse among the clergy. Church depravity fits somewhere along-side the “me too movement,” teacher/student sexual encounters, sex-slave traffic and child pornography. Toss in the transgressions of the LGBQ community, Hollywood's anything goes arrogance, and you have a world preoccupied with perverted sex. No institution is without this evil influence, from the highest government positions to trusted church gatherings, sexual misconduct has escalated out of control. Paul, the apostle, explained it this way. “People wanted only to do evil. God left them and let them do the shameful things they wanted to do. Women stopped having natural sex with men and started having sex with other women. In the same way, men stopped having natural sex with women and began wanting each other all the time. Men did shameful things with other men. ( Rom. 1:26-27) Paul was speaking of a culture that had total disregard for God's way. “People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking. And so they do what they should not do.” (Rom.1:28) The structure of the Catholic Church has long been a haven for pedophiles and predators. As, has been school locker rooms, church camps, boy scouts, and the list goes on and on. The most egregious part of this wicked culture is that these predators recruit their victims. “They know God’s law says that anyone who lives like that should die. But they not only continue to do these things themselves, but they also encourage others who do them.”(Rom.1:32)
When I was a young boy, my mother would continue to remind me not to talk to strangers. Today, that’s not enough, some of these abusers are well-respected clergy, coaches, youth leaders and friends. It's very important we talk to our kids on an adult level about the perils of today's immoral society. It's important to know where they are, what they read, what they watch, who their friends are, and carefully monitor their social network activity. Above all, we must make our homes a sanctuary for our children where they can feel safe and loved. Many of the children that are victims of sexual abuse are looking for love and affection in all the wrong places.
When God created mankind, His plan was to teach men and women how to live together in perfect harmony using the family as the model. They were to love and respect each other as an example for their children. They would provide God inspired advice to their children, and there would be no room for evil thoughts. Unfortunately, sin interrupted this perfect plan and men began to spiral down into the depths of corruption. The plan is still a good one but now requires a hands-on approach more complex than “don’t talk to a stranger.” for more about the descent of mankind read “Beam me up Commander” it’s free.
