Jesus the Savior

In the ancient past, the Council of God met to consider the creation of man. In attendance were the three members of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Word and God the Holy Spirit. The three agreed that man would be created in the image of God and be given dominion over the earth. “And God said, let us make men in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth.” (Gen. 1:26) And so it was, Adam and his descendants were given dominion over all the Earth. God looked at his creation and said it was very good. (And God saw everything he had made, and behold, it was very good. (Gen.1:31) There was one exception. God planted a tree in the Garden of Eden that was not good for man and told Adam not to eat the tree's fruit or he would die. “In the middle of the garden, he put the tree of life and the tree that gives knowledge about good and evil.” (Gen.2:9) Adam had a mind of his own. He could accept or reject God's offer. It was a test of Adam's faith and obedience. Humanity stood in the balance of his decision. Adam chose to accept the word of a rebel from another world and reject the word of God. “God knows that if you eat the fruit from that tree you will learn about good and evil, and then you will be like God!” (Gen. 3:5) Adam, who (chose to follow the world) fell from grace and that is why we need a savior.

Jesus is the Savior: Since sin is passed through the seed of man but received by both man and woman, all are guilty of sin. When Jesus was born two thousand years ago it was the result of a union between Mary, a virgin Jew, and the Holy Spirit of God. Because God is the father of Jesus the sinful nature of man was not passed to Jesus. Jesus was not part of Adam's race. Born free of sin, He was the perfect candidate to pay the penalty required by the law. He was the scapegoat for a condemned race. The blood of Jesus covered the law of Moses: “No one can be made right with God by following the law. The law only shows us our sin.” (Rom. 3:20) “Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, being members of his sinful race, and wherever there is sin, death results. But all who are related to Christ will rise again.” (1 Cor. 15:22)For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Rom. 8:2)

To follow Jesus is a simple decision: “lord thank you for sacrificing Jesus for me, I choose to follow Jesus.” “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Rom. 10:9) Acknowledge that Jesus is Lord, believe it and the Holy Spirit will come to help you through the hard times. You’ve got nothing to lose.
