When Jesus was born that fateful night 2000 years ago he became the fulfillment of a plan to defeat Hell once and for all. The plan was conceived and developed in the war room of Heaven by the Triune God. The planners were God the Father, the Word of God, and God the Holy Spirit. The tactic was to send the Word of God to earth in the form of a man, born of a woman. Two obstacles had to be overcome, the sin virus that contaminated Adam’s race and Hell. Since women do not pass the sin virus forward to the next generation only the man had to be circumvented. Because all men pass the deadly infection it was agreed that God the Holy Spirit would father Mary's son to void Adam’s sin. The night Mary's baby was born the Word of God became flesh and Jesus became the Son of God. “The Word became a man and lived among us. We saw his divine greatness—the greatness that belongs to the only Son of the Father. The Word was full of grace and truth.”(John 1:14) The Heavenly tribunal didn’t end there the plan for victory was just getting started.

Adam's original sin was an act of treason subject by law to the death penalty. “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”(Gen. 2:17)  Adam and Eve were created immortal but because of their rebellion, they died as mortals. They left their legacy to their offspring. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”(Rom.3:23) Adam’s race was separated from the glory of God with no way back. To solve the dilemma God needed a man who was part of Adam's race but was not guilty of the original sin. Because God is true to His word all who have sinned will die.  “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”(Rom. 8:2) The plan was foolproof as long as Jesus remained sinless.

Adam had traded his birthright to Satan giving Hell control of earth and making Satan the Prince of this world. If Jesus was to liberate man from the bondage of Hell he had to overcome Satan first. The confrontation happened in the wilderness where Jesus went to face his adversary. Satan offered Jesus part of his kingdom if he would worship him only. “The devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them  And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”(Matt. 4:8-10)  Satan was soundly defeated by the Word of God and Jesus was made Lord of Lords. “Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, being members of his sinful race, and wherever there is sin, death results. But all who are related to Christ will rise again.”(1 Cor.15:22)  The final step in the liberation of planet earth was the sacrificial death of sinless Jesus, the second Adam, and the new beginning. As Jesus hung on the cross he knew the plan of salvation had been accomplished. With his last breath, “he said ‘It is finished:’" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”(John 19:30) For more about the Word of God read “Beam me up Commander” it’s free.
