The recent video of the attempted murder of two Los Angeles police officers brought the devilish act right into our living rooms and rocked the country once again, provoking the question, what is going on? More accurately stated, 'what in the world' is going on? The senseless random killing of innocent people continues to increase at an incredible pace on every continent. Government officials, psychologist, clergy, news analysts and the like, struggle to find the reason behind the carnage. Ideology, hate, guns, and mental illness are just a few of the causes blamed for the butchery. Selecting a favorite cause seems easy enough, finding a remedy appears impossible.
The question “what in the world is going on?” Was answered 2000 years ago when Paul the apostle wrote a telling letter to his friend Timothy explaining the human condition at the end of time. “ Remember this: There are some terrible times coming in the last days. People will love only themselves. They will have no love for others; they will be cruel and hate what is good. People will turn against their friends, they will do foolish things without thinking and will be so proud of themselves.”(2 Timothy 3)
Senseless murder is a by-product of the degenerate nature of men in the last days. No amount of earthly effort will slow the onslaught. It is a sign of our time inspired by Hell! The cause is spiritual and must be solved spiritually. “The Spirit of God clearly says that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe. They will obey spirits that tell lies. And they will follow the teachings of demons. Those teachings come through people who tell lies and trick others. These evil people cannot see what is right and what is wrong. It is like their conscience has been destroyed with a hot iron.”(1Timothy 4)
People must decide for themselves to follow God or fall prey to evil spirits unwittingly. The idea that evil spirits can control the minds of human beings may seem ridiculous but if we are not with God, then we are against Him, know it or not. To better understand the concept of God and the spiritual dominion we need only to accept Him for who He is and His word for what it says. The world is full of trouble and getting worse.
