The Point of No Return
Aviators coined the term "point of no return" during the second World War with Japan. If a pilot used more fuel than it took to return to his original departure site, there was no turning back; he had surpassed the point of no return and was lost to the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. The same can be said for people who embrace a lifestyle of immorality and have no intention of dialing it back. A good example is the entertainment industry and Hollywood, in particular. No other institution has more influence on a young and vulnerable person than entertainment. Even family sitcoms use language and innuendos reserved for the locker rooms and flight decks of just a few decades ago. You can be entertained 24/7 if you own a cell phone. Maybe you’ve noticed young people more fixated with their phone than the busy intersection they’re crossing. Entertainment is the richest industry in the world. “The U.S. media and entertainment (M&E) industry is the largest in the world. At $735 billion, it represents a third of the global M&E industry, and it includes motion pictures, television programs, and commercials, streaming content, music, and audio recordings, broadcast, radio, book publishing, video games, and ancillary services and products. The U.S. industry is expected to reach more than $830 billion by 2022,” according to the latest Entertainment & Media Outlook by Price Waterhouse Coopers. And, they have no intention of turning back, they have passed the point of no return.
There comes a time in the life of every person when God knows if they have crossed the line of no return. When this happens, He withdraws. “People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking.” (Ro. 1:28) The entertainment industry and the people they influence are prime candidates for a divine withdrawal. There is a future generation that will choose to leave God out of their thoughts. When the broad majority of people surrender to this condition, God will pull the church (true believers) out of the world and leave those that remain to their own depraved policies and way of life. “Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.”(1Thes. 4:17)
If you are a perceptive person, then you can see the danger that lies ahead. It's time to alert young people to the trappings of this age. Jesus warned his followers about a future time when people would become complacent. They would disregard the law of God and go their own way. “Yes, these are the events that will signal the end of the age.”(Mark 13) Jesus made it clear that we are to watch and recognize the events prior to His return. “My coming can be compared with that of a man who went on another country. He laid out his employees’ work for them to do while he was gone and told the gatekeeper to watch for his return. Keep a sharp lookout! For you do not know when I will come, at evening, at midnight, early dawn or late daybreak. Don’t let me find you sleeping. Watch for my return! This is my message to you and to everyone else.”(Mark 13:34-37) For more about events that proceed Jesus’ second coming read “Beam me up Commander” its free!
