Where is the U.S. at the End of the Age?
The Bible paints a clear picture of the last seven years of this age, ending in the return of Jesus Christ to establish His theocratic government. During the last seven years, governments, nations and borders change radically due to war and nation realignments. We can begin to see some of these alliances forming right now. Europe, Africa, the middle east and Asia are all players in the final showdown with Israel being the center of attention. The only major nation not mentioned in Bible prophecy is the United States of America, the most powerful country on Earth. How could such an important event ignore the United States? What role will the U.S.play in the final hour? These questions have baffled Bible students since the republic was founded. There are numerous signs that Jesus's return is near, not the least of which is the restoration of Israel in 1948. “When will this happen?” the disciples asked him later, as he sat on the slopes of the Mount of Olives. “What events will signal your return and the end of the age?” (Matt.24:3) Jesus went on to explain what the world would look like just prior to His return in the 24th chapter of Matthew.
There have been many theories offered over the years about where the U.S. fits into the last days. Most of the ideas that have been tossed around usually have something to do with the condition of the country at that time. No idea can be considered relevant if it doesn’t take into account the rebirth of Israel. 72 years ago the tiny nation was reborn as promised and triggered the beginning of the end times. There is, however, one theme that all ideas generally have in common, the U.S. is weakened to such an extent that it can no longer be competitive on the world stage. During the past 72 years, the U.S. has become the most powerful nation in recorded history. We are world leaders in virtually every major category, including friend and defender of Israel. So, what would cause the U.S. to become dysfunctional? What would happen if one out of every three Americans just disappeared? That equates to 110 million people from every walk of life who just vanish from the face of the earth. Would an event like that weaken the nation to such an extent that it would cease to function and could no longer protect its-self or Israel?
There is a little known and less understood event that takes place before the final 7 years of this age. Jesus made a promise to His disciples that after his death he would come back for His church and take them to their residents in Heaven. “ In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”(John 14:2-3) This event is not His second coming to Earth because the church will be caught up to be with Him in the air and then return to Earth with Him, 7 years later.. “And the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.” (Zec. 14:5) Paul the Apostle explained how this little known event would happen. “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord. Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.”(1Thes.4:16-17) To be a part of this mystical experience and escape the last 7 terrible years of this age you need only to believe and accept Jesus as Lord and savior.
