Science or God?
The first thing to remember when comparing science to God is that science studies things already in existence whereas God created all things from nothing. “God stretched the northern sky over empty space. He hung the earth on nothing.” (Job 26:7) There is a growing segment of our society that have it backwards, they place more faith in science to create a better world than God. For example, the experts can’t seem to agree on much of anything concerning the covid-19 vires, doctors question scientists, scientists question each other, politicians don’t trust either one. The vires, as well as all things harmful to people, existed long before the science laboratory did. All things evil are a result of human rebellion when God lifted His hand from the affairs of men and cursed the earth. “All these curses shall pursue and overtake you until you are destroyed—all because you refuse to listen to the Lord your God.” (Deut. 28:45) In other words, men inherited a cursed planet corrupted by disobedience. When science takes the place of God it does more harm than good because it feeds the curse. If science would agree that God's word was the absolute truth only then would it open the secrets of the universe. Instead, it competes with God for the trust of people and is destined to fail. “If you want favor with both God and man, and a reputation for good judgment and common sense, then trust the Lord completely; don’t ever trust yourself. In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.”(Prov. 3:5-6)
God has provided the answer to a world in turmoil.“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”(Isa. 9:6) Science has taken the place of Jesus and become the surrogate god of a lost generation. Science has tried to convince the same vulnerable crowd that life is an accident and we are all descendants of monkeys. Nothing could be more discouraging! There is no wonder why so much misery and depression saturates our culture. Faith is considered to be irrational, while science is held in the highest esteem. “So what about these wise men, these scholars, these brilliant debaters of this world’s great affairs? God has made them all look foolish and shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense.” (1 Cor.1:20)
Since God dwells in our hearts its time to look past the morning headlines and trust what God has already said in His Word. “Bless the holy name of God with all your heart. Yes, I will bless the Lord and not forget the glorious things he does for me. He forgives all my sins. He heals me. He ransoms me from hell.
