The King of Jerusalem
When the United States moved its embassy to Jerusalem, it made two profound statements, 1) Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and, 2) the United States is still a predominantly Christian nation. World politics and skewed ideology have managed to cloud the true reason why this move is so significant. David, the second King of Israel, made Jerusalem the capital of Israel long before the nation of Palestine existed. Even though this is enough reason to settle the political question, it is not the real reason why Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel by Jews and Christians. Judaism and Christianity are not the same, but both faiths recognize the God of the Bible. The Jews stop with the law of the old testament while Christians move on with the new covenant of Jesus Christ. The Jews warrior Messiah has yet to come. Jesus “the anointed one” has come, died, and rose to life again for the benefit of Jew and Gentile alike. Jesus will come again as the warrior Messiah of the Jewish faith and rule His earthly Kingdom from Jerusalem. “ And if you say ‘By the earth!’ it is a sacred vow, for the earth is his footstool. And don’t swear ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the capital of the great King.”(Matt.5:35)
The Jews are still waiting for their warrior King to arrive with majestic splendor and defeat the enemies of modern day Israel. They have rejected the lowly carpenter who came to Jerusalem on the colt of a donkey. They have ignored their prophet Zechariah who painted a clear picture of the event in the Old Testament.“Rejoice greatly, O my people! Shout with joy! For look—your King is coming! He is the Righteous One, the Victor! Yet he is lowly, riding on a donkey’s colt! ”(Zech.9:9-10) The prophecy was fulfilled a millennium later when Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey. “Tell Jerusalem her King is coming to her, riding humbly on a donkey’s colt!”(Matt. 21:4-5)
The recognition of Jerusalem as capital sets the stage for the triumphant return of Jesus Christ in all the glory of the Jewish warrior Messiah. “ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse, and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name is written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.”(Rev.19) Learn more about the soon return of Jesus Christ in all His Glory, read “Beam me up Commander” its free.
