The Race to Conquer Space
When God made the first man Adam, He gave him dominion over all He had created on the Earth. “Then God said, “Let us make a man someone like ourselves, to be the master of all life upon the earth and in the skies and the seas.”(Gen. 1:26) God reserved the heavenly dominion for Himself but gave man sovereignty over the Earth. The Earth was perfect in every way. It was designed to support all that men would need to live happy eventful lives. Adam was not created to live beyond the boundary of the earth’s atmosphere. From that time to the present day, men have not been satisfied with what God has provided them. Starting at the Tower of Babel, through Galileo’s observation of the stars to Einstein's theories of dark matter, the hunt for God's domain marches on. The latest entry in the race to conquer space includes two of the richest men alive: Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Telsa's Elon Musk. Bezos has recently resigned as the head of Amazon to devote more time to his space exploration company, “Blue Origin.” Their mission: “We’re committed to building a road to space so our children can build the future.” “SpaceX” is Musk’s company and his contribution to our future. “It's about believing in the future and thinking the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.” Musk’s mission is to colonize Mars: an uninhabitable planet.
In the distant past, another not satisfied with his place in the Kingdom of God tried to invade God’s domain. “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High God.”(Isa.14:13-14) Lucifer, the mighty Ark-Angel was a lot like Bezos and Musk, very bright and very arrogant believing that men can conquer the universe without God. In fact, like many people, they believe God stands in the way of their progress. They traded the truth of God for a lie. They bowed down and worshiped the things God made instead of worshiping the God who made those things. (Ro. 1:25) In the end, these men will fail to reach the dominion of God just as Lucifer did. “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground.”(Isa. 14:12)
When the descendants of Noah began to repopulate the earth after the great flood, they came together and settled in Babylonia. The people were determined to build a great metropolitan area with a tower that could reach into the heavens. Because they all spoke the same language they were of one mind and believed there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish. Their quest for preeminence failed when they refused to recognize God as the Governor of the universe and acknowledge His authority surpasses that of men. “And they said, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name.”(Gen.11:4) Their willful disregard for God's universal sovereignty was a costly mistake. God reduced their language to Babel and sent them on their way. “let us go down, and confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.”(Gen.11:7,8)
God's plan for the future far exceeds that of men. “But the great men of the world have not understood it; if they had, they never would have crucified the Lord of Glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (1Cor. 2:8,9) We have been given a preview of things to come that can only be found in the Word of God. People willing to search the scriptures and allow the Spirit of God to teach them can know something about the future. “ But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (1 Cor. 2:10) “ Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.”(John 16:13) For example, space exploration has been the desire of men since they first observed the stars but that old nuisance time has stood in the way. Time is only relevant on earth. In the dominion of God, there is no time differential, meaning, the day will come men will travel the universe like angels by stepping through the time warp into the 5th dimension. This example of space travel is validated many times in the Bible by the appearing and disappearing of men and angels. “The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “You have not been able to have children. But you will become pregnant and have a son.”(Judges 13:3) The kingdom of God has no end. The children of God inherit the kingdom. Happy traveling!
