How to Receive the Promises from God
The Bible is many things starting with a model of the ancient past and ending with a picture of the boundless future. Between these two extremes is God's plan for man. There is an abundant source of power in the form of promises granted every man and woman willing to believe and receive them. “By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises.” (2 pet. 1:4) Bible promises come straight from God and cover every need a believer has. They are easy to understand and require no special gift, only faith. They include future assurances like eternal life in the presence of God as well as an inheritance that would make Jeff Bezos envious. “And since we are God's children, we will share his treasures—for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours too.”(Ro. 8:16) There are many practical every day promises to help us get through our earthly journey as well.“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24) This simple promise given by Jesus is all a person needs to know to receive answers from God. Jesus is the emissary between God and man. Therefore, as part of the family of God, when you pray in Jesus name, you acknowledge your relationship with God through Jesus your savior and elder brother. The promises offered by God are for the benefit of believers and not for those who wish to procure them for personal gain. God knows who we are! The wise Christian will seek out these many promises and hold God to His word.
The above paragraph characterizes what God can and will do for believing Christians. But, one must realize that sin and unbelief have infected human nature, and no one is void of this condition including Christians. To overcome the old nature, we must be prepared and willing to do battle with the enemy of our souls. To prepare yourself for the battle, read Ephesians chapter 6 and be a doer of it and not just a hearer. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”(Jas.1:22) There is one very important thing we must never do if we expect to receive the promise. We must not blame God for our circumstance, He is not our enemy and did not cause our condition. He gave his life to change our condition. The promises from God are limitless in scope and can be received by all true believers.
All believers and nonbelievers alike know there is good and evil in the world. The Bible attributes evil to Lucifer the rebellious Ark Angel who was kicked out of Heaven making the habitation of earth his home. He is not a myth or cartoon; he is very real and controls earth from a twin dimension, he has countless followers helping in his diabolical plan. Satan is the original fake news mogul that meddles in the affairs of men. He uses a form of cyber influence much like the internet only considerably more effective. He can control the mind of any man that lets him. “For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.”(Eph. 6:12)As you seek to receive the many promises God made to you, remember the prince of this world will do his best to corrode your faith and patience.
