Salvation means to save something from corruption. A piece of fruit plucked from its environment will eventually rot. Adam was created incorruptible. When he was banished from his environment, he began to corrupt. He died separated from God. A corrupt soul robs men of their integrity and hardens their heart against God. Adam's race is in a state of corruption! Greed and lust are the gods of this world. Consider this: you are walking along the highway of life and suddenly you come to a fork in the road. One side of the fork is wide and alluring. It smells good and looks good. It’s a very exciting boulevard. It has a sensual pull that is difficult to resist. People are eating and drinking, and in general, indifferent to their way of life. The other road is much smaller, less crowded. As you consider which direction you will take, you notice most people are drawn to the wide side, and then you see something strange among all the lights and glitter. The pavement on the boulevard is cracked and crumbling. No one seems to notice or care! The pavement on the straight and narrow road is perfect not a bump or crack to be found.
“Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way.”(Matthew 7:13)
Jesus is the narrow way, indifference the wide way. The mindset of today’s younger generations is self-centered, believing gratification is the right of all citizens. This generation’s information comes from social networking. Their favorite TV will be rowdy anything goes programming that embraces indulgence without boundaries. Their music will encourage rebellion. Co-habitation without commitment is the new marriage. Parents are blinded by these hellish influences and become participators rather than filters. Jesus is no longer the center of family morality, and inspiration. Street culture influences more kids than family values.
Jesus desires to be part of our life He stands at the door of our heart knocking, pleading, for us to let him in. Now, is the time for salvation before it becomes too late. We make the decision; we open the door.
“Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me.(Revelation:3:20)
The importance of our decision is critical. Jesus is the door that leads to salvation. There comes a time in every person's life when the door is shut from the other side.
“Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.”(Luke 13:24,25)
